I grew up in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, the “City on the Rise.” It’s a pretty city, and I go back to visit when I can. If you are ever there, check out the new Braswell Library downtown, go bowling at the Rocky Mt. Lanes, or stroll around Sunset Lake. I've also heard of emu farms, but I haven’t found those yet. I have, however, seen a sign for a “turkey shoot”...the adventure continues! |

Four of the most enlightening years of my life were at Duke University in Durham, NC. There I learned not only what I wanted to do, but what I didn't want to do. This was hard with the beautiful gardens beckoning. While in undergrad, I earned a BA in English and an elementary teacher certification. After teaching in Durham, I went on to teach third grade in Charlotte. Go Tuckaseegee! |

Once I had my heart on being an artist, I went to the School of Visual Arts in New York City. The Master of Fine Arts in Illustration program rocks! If your goal is to be an illustrator, this is a great place to invest two years. The teachers are great, the experiences are eye-opening, and it's a good block of time to create and explore the industry. |

My husband Paul and I got our pet Oscar five+ years ago. Our Tiger Oscar started out small in a ten-gallon tank, and then, BOY, did our fish grow! Now he's huge, so there's more of him to love! |
